July 4th rant

I was on my way to a fireworks show on the Fourth of July. While on the way we were traveling down a freeway and I noticed that there were war protestors on the overpasses exercising their freedom of speech by holding up banners that said things like "Give the army your children", "Bush Lied", "This isn't our war" etc.

My big gripe is that I've seen all kinds of people sent to Iraq and Afghanistan and those that die are being honored on a national holiday where we should have pride in our country by people that don't honor anything but their own ideals. During World War II you may as well have been branded a traitor. Why is it OK to do that now?? Why is a person's right to say something on a meaningful day like this being exercised like our county is committing a crime? I have pride in my country. I support our troops and our government even if I don't believe in the war.

The real lies are the ones told on the overpasses this year. I asked one person why they didn't support the troops. They responded that they did but didn't support the war. I'm tired of patriots that support our troops but will cut their legs out from under them with a banner held high for all to see as if they should be ashamed for this banner being there. Those patriots held those banners up for all to see. They expect other Americans to be shamed into their way of thinking. I'm sorry. I can't be twisted that way. It is really about shame. Too bad those that oppose the war haven't found a better way to take care of terrorism! Maybe they should be charged with that task.

With the events in London this week, I say we are a world at war against terrorists. Only a handful of cowardly terrorists strike and yes lives are lost. Cities, countries and people are changed. Anyone that has to sneak in with a bomb and set if off among innocent people is a coward. It's not a religious war that really sparks them because even their religion does not state that innocents shall be punsihed. What a manly attitude. Kill women and children!! It's their fault!! Attack them eh? Brave little bombers hate life so much they have to kill as many as they can or their lives have no meaning!! Pathetic isn't it?
